The Non-Fiction Giveaway Hop

This Giveaway is hosted by Rikki's Teleidoscope.

I didn't quite remember exactly how I came across to this giveaway, or Rikki's blog. But I'm happy I found it. As much as I enjoy reading fiction, I enjoy reading non-fiction too. Most of them would be a self-help/self-development/self-motivation or whatever that is. Sometimes I like reading religion book. Or a coffee-table book. Sometimes I enjoy knitting or crocheting, although I can't remember when was the last time I did it. And ... I enjoy food. Therefore I enjoy going through pages of recipe books. ^^

Knowing that 99% of book bloggers and book lovers I've met/known are into fiction, I wonder what they'd choose when they want to read a non-fiction. :)

And for the prize, I'm giving you 7 choices.

Since I'm from Indonesia, I'm going to introduce you to Indonesian yummy food. :)

As for the giveaway, there will be ONE winner who gets to choose ONE paperback copy of 7 books mentioned above from The Book Depository. So yes, this is INTERNATIONAL as long as The Book Depository ships to your country (you can check it here). For US winner, I might order it from Amazon.

To enter, just fill out the Rafflecopter.
Good luck! ^^

And the Winners Are ....

First, I'd like to thank you to everyone who has participated in the giveaway(s)!  I appreciated every one of my followers. But it's pretty sad that I still found some false/fake entries. Either they're still new to this Rafflecopter thing, or, they just don't think I'd check. Well, if I did miss the entries (sometimes it's just too much. Next time I'd have to simplify it), considered them lucky. If not, well ... they'd never know what they're missing. So I have to disqualified her/him (though I'm 99.99% it's a SHE. :D) and picked a new winner.

I really hope you will stick around for I'm planning to have at least 2 giveaways every month, either by participating in any hop or not. At least that's all I can do considering for the next months I'm not sure I'd be able to read any books (fiction) so I probably won't write any reviews. Not that I'm that productive anyway. Hahahahaha... But since I'm working on my final papers and I really really need to graduate this year, I guess there are things I need to sacrifice. At least for a short time. Can you really imagine not reading a book??? Come to think of it, I'm not so sure I can do that. :D
But one thing I know, even if I don't get to read, reading reviews (or any post) from my fellow book bloggers is pretty entertaining. I really really enjoy it.

Enough with the chit chat. Let me announce the winner(s)

Winner for April No Strings Attached Giveaway Hop is ...

Entry #354 Tamara A.
(confirmed)

and for my monthly giveaway:

Winners for Monthly April Giveaway: Join Bloglovin' and Follow Me are ...

Congratulations for the winners. Three of you won $10 Amazon GC or book(s) up to $10 from The Book Depository.

So look forward for the next giveaways soon. ^^

Monthly April Giveaway: Join Bloglovin' and Follow Me

Since Google Reader (Google Friends Connection/GFC) is going away, I saw that many book bloggers I'm following started to use bloglovin'. Since I don't really understand what best to follow, and since I need to follow my fellow book bloggers anyway, I decided to join bloglovin' as well. Honestly, I've never really checked, or knew exactly how to use the Google Reader. My bad. :D And guess what, ever since I use bloglovin', so far I'm pretty enjoying using it.
So, maybe from now, instead of using GFC, I'd ask people to follow me via bloglovin'. Of course, GFC is still available until July. But why don't we get ready and start join the bloglovin' from now? :)

Along with this post, I also want to know this:
What way do you use to follow bloggers/people that you like best?
GFC?
Email?
Twitter? I have reached my limit for following 2000 people, and I can't follow people for now unless the number of my followers increasing. I'd appreciate if you follow me via Twitter here. :D)
Facebook?
RSS? (another confession to make, I still don't get what RSS is)
Linky?
Networked Blogs? Just like Twitter, I've just found out that you have limit 200 for following. At least that's my case.
Google Plus? (I rarely check this, too)
Or maybe you prefer something like Goodreads or Pinterest?

I'm one of those giveaway addicts. So at first I sign up almost everywhere just to add the entry on rafflecopter, and in the end I rarely check them out.
For me, most of the time, the way I got updated from those bloggers was through emails because I can check them from my Blackberry and I got updated like almost every minutes, or seconds, and it's pretty easy to know what's going on. I read reviews, memes, and any other post. The bad news: having my way following via email like that, I, of course, rarely make a comment, even though I want to at that time, right away. That's confirming I'm one of those silent reader/stalker. :D

Since most of the time the signal around my house was pretty bad, I can hold on to only emails. Sometimes all I can do is just adding star to mark it as an important one to check on later. That way, whenever I get a chance to go online from laptop/PC, I just get back to it. I also use a different email to follow people. So it won't mix with my personal emails. But of course, with all those emails, it's pretty overwhelming. And you can miss an important news, too, like the announcement that you're a winner giveaway. My solution, use another email whenever you need to fill the email form as a way to contact you. :D

The second best for me: Facebook. And of course, I have this special account, too, for following people/fan page.
The third best? Twitter. Another different account from my personal twitter.
And of course, Goodreads. :)

Well, enough for that. Let's just move on to the giveaway. Since it's about joining bloglovin, Follow Me via Bloglovin' is mandatory. The rest is extra.
There will be 2 winners and each of them get to choose $10 Amazon GC or $10 shopping spree from The Book Depository. So you can choose one, two, or three. Of course, this is INTERNATIONAL as long as you're legal to use Amazon GC or The Book Depository ships to your country (you can check it here)
Good luck!

Review: A Risk Worth Taking by Victoria James

Interior designer Holly Carrington worked hard for her success. Then tragedy struck, leaving Holly the sole guardian of her infant niece. Now she’s swapped her designer purse for a diaper bag, and is going ahead with plans to renovate—and sell—her childhood home in Red River. But facing her past also means coming face-to-face with Quinn Manning all over again...Quinn was the object of her girlhood crush—and heartbreak— and is more gorgeous than ever. He’s also the only person qualified to oversee the renovation. Now they’re butting heads every step of the way... and their attraction is more electrifying than ever! But once the house is sold, Holly needs to return to her real life. And falling for Quinn all over again is one risk she can’t take...

ebook, 170 pages
Published March 11th 2013 by Entangled: Indulgence

My Review:
I loved it! My very first of Victoria James, and already I couldn't wait for the next two books.

When I requested it from Net Galley, I didn't really expect it to be good. Simply I was just attracted to the cover, and the title. Not really into this old-crush thing, but I got curious. Why not give it a try.

Holly, a big city girl who had a perfect life, suddenly have to be a guardian for her baby niece when an accident caused her sister and her brother in law died. She decided to go back to her home town, renovate her grandparents' house that her sister planned to live in. But since she thought she couldn't live in it without thinking those people she lost, she planned to sell it. And of course, she needed to hire the best contractor which was happen to be Quinn's company, her old-crush back then. She couldn't forget him even after ten years. And the truth was, same thing on Quinn' side.
So they started to spend days together for the sake of the renovation, although there were, of course, so much more than that.

I must admit that I have to stop reading after Quinn accused her for being cold because she intended to sell the house. And then Holly said, "That's cold." I felt something chill in my heart. To me, Quinn's reply about he didn't regret getting married, well, THAT'S cold.
I'm melancholic. And it's my PMS time. Ha! So I got a bit sensitive. :p But my heart was squeezed at that sentence, and I knew how much it hurt Holly. It got me thinking about my love life, although it's not exactly the same. I gotta stop reading for few minutes, wrote down something on my journal, and then tried to hold back myself together, and started to read again. :)

Then it started getting better. I loved the way Quinn teased her. I loved the way they interact. You won't find lots of sex scene, which was just fine because that's not the whole point anyway. I think this book was fun to read, light, simple and sweet.
I guess I loved almost every characters in this book. Holly, after all she's been through, it's so understandable that she's afraid. Quinn, for being sooo adorable. I also enjoy Jake & Claire characters, Ella (she sounds so cute and trusting), and even Mrs. Jacob. Hahahahahaha...

Anyway, I can't wait to read the next book about Claire and Jake. I knew there's gotta be something between them by the time Holly found the pouch she sewed back then with Claire. Oh, I just can't wait. And Evan's.

I'm so glad I requested this book and got some times reading it.

e-copy provided by Entangled through Net Galley in exchange for honest review.
